When we introduced our clients to Passive House design and several sustainable assembly strategies, their immediate response was, “Absolutely, but we do not want to sacrifice the site’s beautiful southern exposure and view of Eugenia Lake.” By combining time-honoured passive solar shading and ventilation design techniques with high-performance assemblies and on-site energy generation technologies, we were able to maintain a panoramic view of the lake within a house that achieved net-zero energy targets.
