An East Coast shingle style fits beautifully into this four-seasons cottage on the shores of Lake Joseph in Muskoka, Ontario. Eastern white cedar shingles treated with a natural buff stain complement the dark chocolate trim and weathered zinc standing seam roof. Traditional shingle styling is done through the detailing of the gables, windows and structural braces that bracket the front entrance. The high-performance envelop walls are embellished with a subtle curve at their base that functions to splay water away from the foundation. The architectural design carries through to the two boathouses, giving the entire property continuity.
