Muskoka, ON
| 2005
Nestled into the boreal forest ecosystem of the north Muskoka Island, this cottage’s curved roof evokes images of gentle waves rolling across the lake. Douglas fir joists spanning from curved glulam ridge beams to heavy timber top sill beams generate subtle curves. The fireplace is black Owen Sound limestone. Clerestory windows in the central loft, in combination with the perimeter sliding doors, provide passive ventilation while radiant floors provide heat during the shoulder seasons.
