Nestled into the Canadian shield, this building was reimagined by using existing granite pavers as pathways to create the stone base for this cottage. FSC Douglas fir timbers provide the structure framing for the triple-glazed windows, which offer panoramic views of the lake, trees, granite and sky. The heat source is aqua thermal directly exchanged with interior heat pumps. Transom and clerestory windows, under extended overhangs, create passive ventilation, drawing breezes off the lake to keep the cottage wonderfully cool even on the hottest summer days and nights.
